A Life in Transition!

To be in mission is to be in transition. In order to function well within the transitional dynamic of change, requires an understanding of myself. Also developing the ability to find support within the various communities in which I relocate to.  Not surprisingly.  The ability to build relationships is a requirement of mission and constitutes a vital aspect of healthy functioning within this space of transition. Building relationships is dependent upon an awareness of my personal needs and development but, more importantly, on my ability to meet the challenges of trust in order to allow others into my life.

So in other words, I am learning to live in a new space, one that is transitory for me but is not for the people with whom I will be with. I will be in a space that is not my own but still does belong to someone.

While in reflection this passage spoke to this life in transition.

Romans 14:12-19

So then, each of us will be accountable to God.

Let us therefore no longer pass judgment on one another, but resolve instead never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of another.  I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean.  If your brother or sister is being injured by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love.  Do not let what you eat cause the ruin of one for whom Christ died.  So do not let your good be spoken of as evil.  For the kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.  The one who thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and has human approval.  Let us then pursue what makes for peace and for mutual edification.

These verses perfectly speak to the idea of living in transition.  This passage in my laymen’s terms translates to; do you. Don’t judge someone else for doing them. And don’t let you doing you get in the way of them doing them. All things are good to God and what God has for you is for you, and what God has for someone else is for that person. Both are equally good to God. The Holy Spirit works through diversity.

Living a life of mission means living a life in transition and living in spaces that aren’t your own. In order to survive, relationships must be made, trust must be shared, and time must be spent.

Well the next time you hear from me I will be in Grahamstown South Africa…

Take care!
